Over the past six months, Casino Road Ministries (CRM) has experienced tremendous growth. Homework Club at South Everett Foursquare continues to grow and reach out to more children in the area. We’ve been able to work with 40 to 45 children each Wednesday night. Each Wednesday night these children receive homework help, eat a warm meal, play educational games and develop friendships with adults and other children alike.
We’ve started a homework assistance program at the Bluffs, an apartment complex on Casino Road, on Tuesday afternoon. The club started off slow with one child attending for one month. Now, thirteen elementary and junior high students participate in club. Since CRM has been consistently involved in the Casino Road community, the manager has decided to give CRM space to hold homework club and develop other programs on their property. We’ve had other managers contact us to start homework clubs on their properties. Our hope is to expand our homework club ministry and plant clubs at other apartments pending funding and volunteers.
Some of our children have come to think of Kids’ Club as more than a place to hear bible stor
ies and have fun. Whenever a child from Kids’ Club sees me at Fred Meyers, Horizon Elementary or the Boys and Girls club, I hear the same question, ‘Is church today? I think its awesome our children see gathering while learning how to develop a life-long relationship with Jesus and being positive examples at the Boys and Girls Club on Monday nights as their ‘church’ time. They’ve learned what so many adults forget at times that the church is not a building, but a gathering of people who are dedicated to learning how to follow Jesus.
